History of hip joint replacements
Kohout, Jiří ; Urban, Filip (referee) ; Vrbka, Martin (advisor)
In this bachelor´s thesis is solved problem of friction, lubrication, wear and history of hip replacement. History is described from the second half of 18th century and there was an effort to include every important milestones that affected development of the alloplastic of hip joint. Beside this development is also observed volume wear of hip joint. History of lubrication and friction is watched from first experiment, which measured these factors it means mid-20th century.
Stress strain analysis of hip femoral stems
Čáp, Lukáš ; Thomková, Barbora (referee) ; Marcián, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on stress and strain analysis of hip femoral stems used in total hip arthroplasty. At the beginning of the work, there is a description of hip joint anatomy, the nomenclature of individual parts of the implant, and hip stem division by type of fixation in bone, material, etc. The next part is devoted to the standards, by which are hip stems invented and manufactured. One part of hip stem development is testing either with the use of test equipment or with the use of computation modeling. For supplied hip stems there is made stress and strain analysis, according to the standards and studies which are focused on this problem. Hip stem geometry creation, setting boundary conditions, and evaluation of the results of the analysis are the content of the calculation part of this work. With these results and analysis, it is possible to compare hip stems between one and the other and decide which one of them is the most or the least statically stressed.

Human locomotion after total hip replacement
Horáková, Alena ; Vilímek, Miloslav (advisor) ; Horák, Zdeněk (referee)
Title: Human locomotion after total hip replacement Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to perform a gait analysis of patients after total hip replacement and to find out, how chosen temporo-spatial, kinetic and kinematic parameters change during the first half a year after the surgery. The deviations found in gait stereotypes of individual patients are further compared with results of international studies. Methods: The thesis is theoretical-empirical, with small number of patients. 3D kinematic gait analysis was performed by Qualisys system and ground reaction forces by two Kistler force plates. The following parameters are being monitored: length of step, stance phase duration, cadence, walking speed, lateral shift of the pelvis and trunk in standing phase, contralateral pelvic drop in standing phase of the leg, maximum range of motion of the hip joint in sagital plain, maximum of vertical and medio-lateral component of the ground reaction forces in the standing phase. Results: The highest side deviations between legs were found in 3 months after the surgery and remained until 6,5 months after the surgery. In this time period a lower value of the length of step, stance phase duration, maximum range of motion of the hip joint in sagital plain and also a higher lateral shift of the pelvis was...
